barrels of oil

Yes, Now you know why renewables are little more than curiosities. They simply cannot compete with fossil fuels. In fact where they do compete, they are highly subsidized by tax incentives or other government programs and fossil fuels are disadvantaged by high taxes. The situation may change in the future, however. Dr. Bob

Ditto In the terms of some economists "Laid-off Costs." An excellent discussion can be found at http://dieoff.com/page95.htm

That not the "total cost of use". You also have cleanups, bad health -> Higher premium for health covrage (or tax, if you have public health system). And there is also diffrent type of crude oil. since the US don’t care about pollution. They by more the cheap, with sulfur and sand in it. The Northsee oil, is of a higher quality. No sand, and hardly any sulfur. This oil is a little more easier to make normal petrolium diesel with (The US calls Clean Diesel, if you use US diesel in Europe, You’ll get in truble, it’s to dirty). In a bottle, the North see oil behaves more like wather, than middel eastern oil. — Mike Klev

Wow thanks both for the quick response. Looks like about 1/3 US cent per kWhr(t) at the wellhead, that’s going to put a dent in renewables. AJH
